One Step Organization - Service opportunity

We have a unique service opportunity with the One Step Organization on Monday, February 22nd. The One Step Organization organizes winter and summer camps for children with leukemia and cancer. They are affiliated with Children's Oncology Services of Chicago. For over 20 years they have done ski camps and arranged for donations for equipment, transportation, accommodations, etc.

We have been asked to provide dinner to the approximately 30 kids and 10 counselors/doctors/nurses that come. They are in Park City and the kids range in age from 12-18. They love having youth groups come up and bring them dinner because they love meeting other teenagers.

Most of these kids don't live the normal teenagle life, in fact many of them are home schooled because they miss so much school time with hospital visits, etc... I think that is why they love this trip because they get to forget about being sick for a week and try something most of them have never tried before. Many of them are amputees because of their cancer and some are blind. Many are learning to ski with a monoski or a sit ski or guides.

We have been asked to provide dinner on Monday February 22nd. They eat in a kitchen at the National Ability Center in Part City and dinner will need to be there ready to eat at 6:00PM. So we will need to leave from City Hall at 5:15PM. They love to have other teenagers come up and eat with them and mingle so the more the merrier!

DYC has the budget to provide the food and everything to go with it. We just need your commitment to go and hang with the kids. Please let me know if you will go. It will be a fantastic experience. If you have any questions, please let me know at gwendolyn_dba@yahoo.com

Thank you for all you do to bring happiness to others through your service.

Best regards,

Gwendolyn
